Most interesting bars : Big Mango Bar Latest : Unfortunately Big Mango Bar has been closed in November 2007. As a result Nana Plaza does no have any place anymore where you can have a bite. The location of the bar is both good and bad. The problem is how to get there. It is located on the second floor (American) actually just at the entrance to Nana Plaza. You can reach it by taking the escalator on the right, then turn right for a few meters. You have to negotiate quite a few 'hello' girls that crowd around the exit of the escalator, trying to entice you to go into Mandarin and Silver Dragon bars. The latter two bars are a-go-go bars and we would suggest you not go there because of exorbitant pricing policies.
Now, what is good about the location. Well, you have a good view over what is going on at Nana Plaza from the balcony around the perimeter of the bar. You can enjoy a beer and some food, while observing the scene below. It is much more convenient to do that at Big Mango Bar then downstairs at Big Dogs (at ground level), because it is much less crowded and hectic. To be honest, we did not try the food, but from what we read on webboards and the like, the hamburgers taste good. Beer is priced at 95 baht, and you can get Beer Lao, which is certainly worth a try. There is a happy hour, between 5 and 8 P.M. (should be 9 P.M., we suggest) when you can have your beer at 60 baht. Big Mango Bar have few, but friendly staff, you can see their pictures on their website. The few times I entered the bar, the management seem to forever occupied working on their laptop computer. By the way there is also some Nana Plaza news (a blog) on their website. Main Page | Introduction to a-go-go | FAQ's | Links | Nana Plaza | Soi Cowboy | Short-time calculator |
