Carousel (formerly named Hollywood Strip) is a huge bar on the third floor of Nana Plaza. Take the stairs on the left when entering Nana Plaza and and go up all the way, all the while neglecting all the touts and thugs who try to get you into other bars.
The bar has two rotating carousels with about ten to twelve girls dancing on both. In between the two carousels there would still be sufficient place to have another bar altogether.

After a long absence we wandered into Carousel not long ago. It is like entering a different time altogether. First thing we noticed was the very smoky environment and a particular smell, which we first thought came from all the cigarette smoke around (apparently you are still allowed to smoke in this bar). Then we noticed that part of the lighting in the bar comes from a lot of burning candles on a lot of the tables. Certainly, the air is not quite healthy for those with any lung problem or so.

The bar is very poorly lit otherwise (like most bars in the good old days), and this creates in our opinion an altogether different atmosphere, when compared to other bars around Nana Plaza and also Soi Cowboy. We actually liked it.

Carousel has two carousels (slowly turning stages with girls performing shows, or dancing on top). The one of the left features girls dancing naked, the one on the right has girls in standard bikini outfit. Explicit shows feature in between dancing on the left stage. As far as we know this is the only bar at Nana Plaza that has girls dancing naked, or performing sexually explicit shows.

We were also pleasantly surprised by the number of customers. One most take into account that this bar is actually not that easy to reach. First one has to negotiate a few staircases. Then there are all the touts on the way, who try to get customers into other bars.

Beer prices are very modest at Carousel at 120 baht. Soft drinks have the same price. Short drinks are more expensive at 150 baht and lady drinks go for 130 baht.
