Mandarin bar is on the second floor, right in front after you exit the escalator. Obviously the same people who designed Baccara have been at work here. This could be called a 'designer' bar, quite different from the classic configuration, where you just have a central dancing stage with seating around it.
When you enter the bar, you first have to climb some stairs to enter the first level. There on the right you will find a square dancing stage, with ample seating around. Some designer, rather peculiar barstools are present. They are rectangular, positioned perpendicular to the stage, and resting on two legs. There is room for two people to sit on them, but most are only occupied by one person, who is obviously protected from other people bumping into him, as is the case in most other bars.
There is another upstairs level of the bar, which can be reached by some more stairs, but lately this floor is closed most of the time. The ceiling in between the two levels is made of glass and thus completely transparent, so it allows a view from below of the girls dancing on top.

It must be said that Mandarin was very successful for a few years (between 5 and 10 years ago), but then somehow the management let it all slip away, and the bar is now one of second tier bars at Nana Plaza.
There are two dancing shifts. Interestingly, most of the girls of one shift dance topless (not all that common at Nana Plaza nowadays).
The second shift of girls are differently dressed, with tops and hotpants. We figured that quite a few of those girls (all?) were ladyboys. It seems to be common at Nana Plaza for less successful bars to become a venue for the third sex.

Beers and are priced at 135 bath and soft drinks go for 135 baht. Lady drinks are modestly priced at 120 baht. When we last visited (on a friday), there were rather few customers around, but some reviews have stated that the bar is picking up a bit as of late.

There is another bar next to Mandarin, called Mandarin Table Top. It is located in between Mandarin and Mercury bar, and surely will have table dancing.
