Short time, how much?

Short time, long time, this is Bangkok-speak. Short time, simply stated, means taking a girl out of the entertainment establishment where she works, be it a gogo bar, beerbar, disco etc., for a very limited time period. This usually means taking the girl to your home, hotel, in order to know each other better, where she stays for one, two, three hours. Staying overnight etc qualifies as long time.

When taking a girl out for extracurricular activities, it is usually well advised to agree on a price beforehand. This avoids misunderstandings later on. While it is somewhat embarrassing, the girls are used to it, and agreement usually does not take long. If there is a big difference between the amount asked and the amount offered, make your choice. I would suggest not having any kind of discussion about this, but just to move on, and find someone more agreeable to your requests.

Discussing the price beforehand may be offputting, but usually does not spoil the atmosphere. The same can not be said about having to discuss anything monetary afterwards. If can really leave a bad aftertaste, if a discussion arrises at that time.

So the following factors seem to be important or not so important in 'settling' a price for offered services.

Bar location

There is not much (if any) difference in going rates at Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. Nowadays, the average paid seems to be between 1400 and 1500 baht for short-time. In practice this means than anything between 1000 and 2000 baht seems reasonable, depending on age, attractiveness, appeal etc.

Bar size

Taking a girl out of a big sized bar will cost you about 200 baht more than taking her out of a small sized bar. Having shows in a bar, also tends to increase the price, but to a lesser extent.

Day and time of day

During weekdays, prices in general are about 100-200 days cheaper than during the weekend. Any day, before closing time there is a slight drop in prices of about 50-100 baht on average.

Girl looks

When dividing into good looking, average looking and unattractive women the results are similar, but less pronounced. A lot of punters assert having taken out 'stunning' women (about 30% of the total), which proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but makes it difficult to use beauty as an objective determinant of the price settled.
Our survey indicates that unattractive women are the most expensive. However, this is apparently due to the fact that very few women are graded as unattractive.

Girls work

Girls who perform shows seem to ask about 300 baht more on average than girls who do not. Dancing naked, with or without tops, does not seem to have a great effect. Girls coming from Isaan are generally satisfied with less money than girls from Central area (Bangkok) or ChiangMai.

Customer age

There is no substantial difference in prices paid by young, middle aged or older men.

Customer looks

Being quite obese, makes for a substantially increased chance of having to pay more for services. Being handsome, or average looking can save you a few baht. Interestingly, there is no penalty for being bald, and results up to now indicate that bald people do not pay more than people who consider themselves handsome (quite a lot of customers do!!)

Men wearing shorts, pay about 200 baht on average more, than men who do not, while people in business suits tend to pay less.

Customer nationality

No big differences here, although the few Japanese men who participated paid more than average.

Generous people in the bar, also pay the girls more generously, an expected correlation.

Language spoken

Being able to speak Thai (not specified how good) will save you about 100 baht. The few people who stated not communicating a lot with their partner, paid substantially more than average.

Touching, groping

To early to make a definite and interesting statement here. However, it looks like touching the breasts of your partner, seems to have a beneficial effect on the financial interaction (in favor of the provider) Whether the girls gropes you or not does not have any special effect (?)

Payment and tips

People who pay with 1000 baht bills and tip generously, are also more generous with the girls, on average giving them 300 baht more than other customers.
