Midnite bar (rating : )

Many bars have an outside area nowadays. At Baccara, Tilac Bar and at other locations quite a few customers are always enjoying the scenery. Midnite Bar also has a large outside area, but we hardly ever notice anybody there. However, the bar is somewhat successful, with a good number of customers inside enjoying the explicit shows.

Midnite bar under new ownership has been refurbished a few years ago, and looks quite better now, especially on the outside. The bar maintains its 'dark' look and somewhat seedy aspect. One negative point : overly loud music! [we stopped visited the bar lately, because of excessively loud music]

One can judge music level be standing or walking in the middle of Soi Cowboy. If you hear the music of one bar there clearly, that's the place where you do not want to go.

Midnite bar has a long history. Being a quite successful bar many years ago, it slumped into a years long period of poor business and lack of customers. For the old hands, the cashier counter, that was in front of the dancing stage, has been moved all the way back, and barstools surround the whole stage area.

Nudity at most, but not all, times seems to be the norm for the girls dancing on stage. Dancing (or shuffling about) on stage, is regularly interrupted for shows, which are not all that well done. Lesbian acts, SM simulations, girls lotioning their body, etc. are on offer.

The charge for a beer is at 145 baht. There is a happy hour, when you can have some drinks at 50 baht, if you arrive before 8.30 P.M. Draught beer (we think Chang beer) is on offer at 90 baht, but you do not get a regular sized beer for that money. Lady drinks are very expensive, between 150 and 200 bath. Overall, drink prices are a bit over the top.

For a visit to the toilet, you will have to negotiate a rather hazardous winding metal staircase near the entrance of the bar. We suspect quite a few drunken (or otherwise absent-minded) customers have hurt themselves there, trying to get upstairs.
