Shark bar opened in 2002 at the location of a former unsuccessful bar.
The bar was completely remodeled and now features two floors. The ground floor has a classic a go go bar outlay, with an central longitudinal dancing stage, with room for about 15 dancers. Fixed (unfortunately) barstools on both sides of the stage, and two rows of sofas on both sides.
The ceiling has a transparent part, about 2 by 5 meters, allowing for a view of girls dancing upstairs. This transparent part is located somewhat to the right of the bar when entering, so better to sit on that side, if you want to enjoy the view. Nowadays however there are rarely girls dancing upstairs, and that part of the bar seems to have closed down.

This is really a very 'standard' bar. The girls dance in two rather short shifts. They are amongst the 'best dressed' girls in Soi Cowboy, though their panties are rather skimpy. Shark Bar is living proof that there is no need for total nudity or even topless dancing, as long as a good atmosphere is present, and enough attractive girls. It has long been our opinion that good looking girls see less need to undress completely in public. Following this logic, the girls at Shark Bar are more appealing than average, and they are. Very few overweight or more mature women.

Drink prices are average, that is 135 baht for a beer or a short drink, and 120 baht for lady drinks. There is a long list of non-standard more expensive drinks for the girls also. Soft drinks go for 125 baht. We are happy to report that this bar does not seem to serve tequila (or similar) short drinks for the girls, which is a very common rip-off featuring in most bars nowadays.
[when buying a lady drink, your companion prefers a 'tequila', which she downs instantly, after which she will disappear shortly. Be warned!]
If you do want to waste money (and have some fun), you can indulge yourself by throwing ping-pong balls for the girls on stage to grab, at 20 baht a piece.

A negative in this bar, is that the shifts of the girls dancing are rather short. So if you buy a lady drink, chances are the girl of your choice may disappear within minutes to go dancing.

Overall though, Shark Bar is one of the more successful bars at Soi Cowboy, and a visit is advisable.

Lavatories are up to standard.
